Honorable Prime Minister’s Historic Initiative

The historic initiative of Honorable Prime Minister Tarique Rahman—the Sports Allowance Program for National Athletes under the salary structure, titled “ক্রীড়া হলে পেশা, পরিবার পাবে ভরসা”—was inaugurated at Shapla Hall, Prime Minister’s Office, Dhaka, on Monday, 30 March 2026. This landmark initiative reflects a strong commitment to developing sports as a profession and a means of livelihood, in line with one of the election promises of the present government.

The recognition and awarding of sports cards and honors to athletes who have achieved remarkable success at the international level reflect deep appreciation. More specifically, para-athletes of Bangladesh who won gold and bronze medals at the Dubai 2025 Asian Youth Para Games and the Japan Para Badminton International 2025 have been highly motivated by this initiative.

The National Paralympic Committee of Bangladesh welcomes this visionary step and remains committed to working together for a more inclusive, dignified, and sustainable sporting future for all athletes, especially para-athletes in Bangladesh.
