Education and Research

The National Paralympic Committee (NPC) of Bangladesh is committed to being a center of excellence for knowledge in Para sports. We believe that sustainable success on the podium is driven by scientific research, continuous education, and the development of specialized expertise.

๐ŸŽ“ Our Educational Mission

Education is the key to transforming the Para sport landscape in Bangladesh. Our programs are designed to empower the "Team Behind the Athlete"โ€”coaches, officials, classifiers, and volunteers.

1. Coaching Certification Programs

In collaboration with International Federations (IFs) and the IPC Academy, we host workshops to train coaches in adaptive sports techniques.

  • Level 1 & 2 Certifications: Specialized training in Para Athletics, Swimming, and Archery.
  • Adaptive Physiology: Understanding the unique physical requirements of athletes with different impairments.

2. Classifier Training

To grow Para sports locally, Bangladesh needs a strong pool of national classifiers. We provide educational pathways for medical professionals (Physiotherapists and Doctors) to become certified National Classifiers.

3. Safe Sport & Ethics

Education on Anti-Doping (WADA), Safeguarding, and the Rights of Persons with Disabilities is mandatory for all our members to ensure a safe and fair sporting environment.

๐Ÿ”ฌ Research & Innovation

NPC Bangladesh actively encourages research that improves the performance, health, and inclusion of persons with disabilities in the country.

Current Research Focus Areas:

  • Adaptive Equipment Innovation: Researching low-cost, high-performance sports equipment (like wheelchairs and prosthetics) that can be manufactured locally in Bangladesh.
  • Sports Nutrition: Developing dietary guidelines specifically for Para athletes using locally available Bangladeshi food sources.
  • Socio-Economic Impact: Studying how participation in Para sports improves the employment and social integration of individuals in rural and urban Bangladesh.
  • Biomechanics in Para Sport: Analyzing movement patterns to optimize performance for athletes with limb deficiencies or spinal cord injuries.

๐Ÿค Academic Partnerships

We bridge the gap between the field and the lab by partnering with national and international institutions.

  • University Collaborations: Partnering with Physical Education departments and Medical Colleges across Bangladesh for data collection and specialized studies.
  • International Knowledge Exchange: Sharing research findings with the IPC Research and Education and the Asian Para Committee.

๐Ÿ“š Resources for Students & Researchers

Are you a student or a researcher interested in Para sports? NPC Bangladesh provides:

  • Access to Data: Aggregated statistics on Para sports participation in Bangladesh.
  • Internship Opportunities: Hands-on experience in sports management and athlete evaluation.
  • Guest Lectures: Our experts are available for seminars on disability inclusion and adaptive sports science.

"Without research, there is no progress. Without education, there is no future." NPC Bangladesh is dedicated to ensuring that our athletes are backed by the best minds and the latest science.
