Training & Education

National Paralympic Committee of Bangladesh (NPC Bangladesh) is committed to the continuous growth of our sporting community. Through our Training & Education wing, we ensure that athletes, coaches, and officials are equipped with the latest international knowledge, ethical standards, and technical expertise.

1. Anti-Doping: Play True

Integrity is the foundation of Paralympic sport. We strictly adhere to the WADA (World Anti-Doping Agency) and IPC Anti-Doping Codes to ensure a fair and clean competitive environment.

  • Education: We provide mandatory workshops on prohibited substances and the "Clean Sport" philosophy.
  • Rights & Responsibilities: Every athlete is responsible for what they consume. We assist in understanding the Therapeutic Use Exemption (TUE) process for necessary medications.
  • Testing: We coordinate with national and international authorities for "In-Competition" and "Out-of-Competition" testing.

2. Coaching: Building Excellence

Our coaches are the architects of our athletes' success. The BPC focuses on creating a pathway for coaches to gain international certification.

  • Specialized Training: Focus on adaptive training techniques for different impairment groups.
  • Technical Workshops: Regular seminars led by international experts to keep our coaches updated on global sporting trends.
  • Certification: Facilitating IPC-recognized courses to raise the standard of coaching across all districts.

3. Athlete Classification: Ensuring Fairness

Classification is the unique heart of Para-sport. It groups athletes into "Sport Classes" based on how much their impairment affects their athletic performance to ensure that winning is determined by skill and fitness.

  • The Process: Athletes undergo medical and technical assessments by certified classifiers.
  • National Database: Maintaining an updated record of national classifications for local tournaments.
  • Pathway to International: Preparing athletes for international classification panels at major Games like the Asian Para Games and Paralympics.

4. Athlete Selection Criteria

To represent the Red and Green on the global stage, athletes must meet rigorous standards. Selection is based on a transparent and merit-based framework.

  • Performance Standards: Achieving the Minimum Entry Standard (MES) or Minimum Qualification Standard (MQS) set by the IPC.
  • Discipline & Attendance: Evaluation of the athlete's commitment during national training camps.
  • Fitness & Readiness: Final medical clearance and physical fitness tests conducted by the BPC high-performance team.
