Executive Committee (Council) Election 2026

Dhaka, 23 July 2026: The Executive Committee Election 2026 of the National Paralympic Committee of Bangladesh (NPC Bangladesh) was held on Thursday, 23 July 2026, in a festive, orderly, peaceful, and transparent atmosphere.

A total of two candidates contested each of the four key positions-President, Secretary General, Deputy Secretary General, and Treasurer. Following the election, Mr. Mohammod Nasirul Islam was elected President, Dr. Maruf Ahmed Mridul as Secretary General, Mr. Md. Hedaetul Aziz as Deputy Secretary General, and Mr. Md. Asiful Hasan Masud as Treasurer.

The candidates nominated for the posts of Vice-President and Executive Members were elected unopposed, as no multiple nominations were received for those positions.

A total of 17 candidates participated in the election process. The day-long election was attended by para-athletes, disability rights advocates, sports organizers, representatives of relevant organizations, and other stakeholders from different parts of the country. Their enthusiastic participation and support contributed to a vibrant and celebratory atmosphere at the election venue.

The election was widely viewed as an important milestone in strengthening the governance and organizational development of para sports in Bangladesh. Those present expressed the hope that the newly elected leadership would further strengthen the country’s para sports movement and make its activities more dynamic, structured, sustainable, athlete-centered, and inclusive, while creating greater opportunities for athletes with disabilities to achieve excellence at national and international levels.

The newly elected Executive Committee is expected to provide strategic leadership for the continued development of para sports in Bangladesh, with a particular focus on athlete development, good governance, inclusive participation, capacity building, and enhanced representation of Bangladesh in the international Paralympic movement.
